Pam’s first appearance in our orchestra was in 1999 when it was called Eurydice Community Orchestra of Roanoke. Since that time she has played in our viola section whenever her schedule has permitted. Pam began her musical training on piano in the third grade, added violin in the sixth grade, and switched to viola in the tenth grade. Her past musical experiences include participation in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony, the Interlochen Arts Camp, the Charlottesville Symphony, and the Blacksburg Community Strings. She also currently plays with the Grandin Village Strings.
During Pam’s career path she was a Professor of Education at Mary Baldwin College where she worked with returning adult students and prospective teachers. Now retired, she and her husband Rick, who is a member of VCO’s trombone section, enjoy reading, opera, playing bridge, and spending time with their dogs.
Pam has had some unique experiences in her past. During high school she was a Klompen Dancer (wooden shoes and all) in the Holland, Michigan Tulip Festival, and in 1989 she was a Jeopardy contestant!
