Gretchen Miller is well known in the Roanoke area as a flute instructor at both Leeds Music and, for the last 20 years, at The Bandroom. In Gretchen’s high school years she played in the Roanoke Youth Symphony and then went on to earn a BA degree in music as well as a Masters degree in counseling. She answered the call to play with VCO when it was originally formed in 1996 under the name Eurydice Community Orchestra of Roanoke, but unfortunately was unable to continue at that time due to her schedule conflict as director of her church handbell choir. After a sixteen year hiatus, she was able to rejoin the orchestra and has now been playing with VCO on a regular basis since November 2014.
Gretchen also has played flute in a variety of other ensembles, including the Winds of the Blue Ridge, Roanoke Valley Community Band, Pantasia Flute Choir, A-CHORD (a flute/guitar duo), Showtimers Community Theatre, and in many churches in the Roanoke Valley.
Gretchen and her husband, Will, have one son and are active members of the Roanoke Valley Hokie Club. Go Tech!
